Start Identifying and Tracking Your Symptoms This Blood Cancer Awareness Month
Author: Voices of MPN
There’s a new blood cancer diagnosis approximately every three minutes. Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are a group of rare blood cancers. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with an MPN, you are not alone.
Blood Cancer Awareness Month is a time to spread awareness of these rare blood cancers and the effect they may have on your quality of life. This year, Voices of MPN is joined by respected oncology physician assistant Lindsey Lyle, who has dedicated her career to caring for people living with MPNs, to share three important messages:
- Identify and track your symptoms: Describe how they affect your daily life, both physically and emotionally, and give your Healthcare Professional a call whenever you notice any concerning symptoms—even if you don’t think it’s related to your MPN.
- Don’t compare yourself with anyone else: Everyone’s experience with MPNs is different, and because of that, so are the treatment approaches Healthcare Professionals take.
- You are not alone: Even if it may seem like it, you are not alone in this journey. Your loved ones are with you every step of the way, and there are so many others like you living with an MPN. Connect with the MPN community and find resources to help you below.
